STEVE VITALE
Steve Vitale is the President and Principal of P4 Companies, one of the largest privately held security firms in the country, and currently serves as President of the Illinois Security Professionals Association (ISPA). He brings more than a decade of leadership experience across private security, executive protection, off-duty law enforcement programs, and technology-enabled public safety initiatives, with a strong focus on effective public-private partnerships.
Steve began his career with Securitas Security Services USA, where he held senior roles in business development and operations before being promoted to Pacific Region Vice President, overseeing California and Hawaii. In that role, he partnered closely with executive leadership to drive integrated guarding strategies, sales performance, and operational excellence, supporting more than 15,000 frontline personnel across a large and complex security portfolio.
In 2020, Steve returned to Chicago to join P4 Companies, where he now leads the organization’s growth and strategy across major business districts, universities, residential neighborhoods, and critical infrastructure. Under his leadership, P4 developed and scaled neighborhood patrol programs that deploy armed, off-duty and retired law enforcement officers in marked vehicles, supported by advanced technology and real-time monitoring through a centralized Security Operations Center. These patrols are designed to supplement—not replace—public law enforcement and have demonstrated measurable reductions in crime while improving visibility, response times, and community confidence.
In addition to neighborhood patrols, Steve oversees P4’s executive protection and off-duty police services, supporting corporate leaders, public officials, major events, universities, hospitals, and other sensitive environments. These programs emphasize intelligence-led deployment, coordination with local law enforcement, and accountability.
Steve is frequently sought out as a subject matter expert and has been interviewed by major local, national, and international news outlets on crime trends, public safety strategy, executive protection, and the evolving role of private security in urban environments.
As President of ISPA, Steve works closely with industry leaders, law enforcement, and public-sector partners to elevate standards, advocate for professionalism, and advance collaborative security solutions statewide. Across both the public and private sectors, he is known for his pragmatic leadership style, emphasis on accountability, and belief that well-run neighborhood patrols, executive protection, and off-duty police programs are essential components of modern public safety.
